Fire Dog Platoon

-The Fire Dog Platoon , originally F Platoon of Delta Company (The Delta Dogs as they were commonly called by their Commander), was stationed out of Fort Bliss Texas when the Shiva virus hit the U.S., the devastation in those early days of uncertainty was truly horrific. No one knew what could cause infection, there were shootings by citizens: who before that day were teachers, your local grocery clerk, the devoted wife; of anyone stepping on their property as they tried to insulate themselves from the infected. Riots began, and continued unabated. It was during this time that communications started breaking down; there had been little word from Washington for months, telephones began to fail, and power was intermittent at best....
-And those were the good old times, no one new how bad it would truly be....
-The local Commandant, in an effort to maintain the peace, declared martial law in his little corner of what was becoming a wilderness of darkness and death. Gathering all the troops he could muster, he sent them out where an when needed, and yes there was bloodshed, and yes there were hard decisions to be made; but over time he forced a semblance of order to the mounting wasteland, and secured a bit of sanctuary for the survivors of Shiva....
-It was then he received word by old ham radio technology; oh how much we lost in those days, from Alec Masters in the Hoover Dam complex... He was under attack by the remnants of the old gangs; both motorcycle and street thugs, who were flying a new banner as the Children of the Apocalypse....
-Sensing that time was of the essence he picked his most trusted Sergeant; Sigurd (what his true name may have been only he might say), of the Fire Dogs "Hoo-rah!!", and sent them North....
-It was then that the Nukes came, and everything changed; we were cut off from our command by irradiated wastes, to late to save Alec Masters: no way to go home and no mission to serve. It was then that Sgt. Sigurd decided, to follow Commandant Gunther Osric's example and do whatever we could to stave off the annihilation, to battle the darkness, and restore order and peace to the land if we could....
-We have lost many of our brothers and sisters, but we have swelled our ranks with new recruits; and we hope, in the end, that what we do here will make a difference. What we do here will matter; because on this Fallen Earth, that hope and our sense of purpose is all we have......
